About Rich Snyder

Rich recently retired after a 36-year career as the Fire Marshal and station Fire Captain with the City of Sierra Madre. He brings a unique wildfire perspective by simultaneously working as both a Wildland Engine Boss and Wildland Code Developer/Educator. Throughout his career, in addition to managing a crew at the fire station, Rich served on many fire and building code development committees as well as responding to dozens of wildfire incidents all over the State of California. Rich also developed one of the first ground applied long-term fire-retardant programs in the State. The program has been used for over 30 years to protect the foothill communities in the San Gabriel Valley including Pasadena''s iconic Rose Bowl.
