Built on lessons learned from high impact Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) fires, the Los Angeles County Fire Department and the Los Angeles Emergency Preparedness Foundation have worked dilligently over the past 4 1/2 years to develop a groundbreaking collaborative approach to achieving proactive community engagement in WUI resiliency. You will learn how challenges were addressed and success was achieved.

About Drew Smith, Brent Woodworth, Keegan Gibbs

Assistant Chief Drew Smith has been with the LA County Fire Department since 1988. He is a wildfire behavior analyist and has fought and led the response to Santa Ana wind driven fires for over 30 years. He understands community needs and challenges while working in a collaborative manner to address risk assesment, mitigation, response and resiliency issues.
Brent Woodworth is a domestic and international crisis management specialist responding on-site to over 70 major crisis events in 50 countries. He has orchestrated the the collaborative efforts needed to develop the Community Brigade Program.
Keegan Gibbs is a documentary film maker who after responding to the Woolsey Fire has commited himself to effecting cultural change. He is the field leader for the Community Brigade teams.
