Flash Forest is changing the way we think about reforestation. As Canada's first and largest drone reforestation company, they merge UAV, GIS, and plant science technology to reforest post-wildfire areas at a rapid pace with greater efficiency, safety, and biodiversity than traditional hand-and-shovel reforestation methods. Their revolutionary seedpod technology contains seeds, nutrients, water-retention polymers, and a host of other ingredients to help ensure germination and assist seedlings in making it through the critical first few months of life. Not only are they able to leverage drone technology to accelerate the planting process, but they are also able to significantly reduce their carbon footprint in the process, eliminating the energy-intensive nursery phase of seedling growth and the hefty transportation packaging used in the human tree-planting process. Additionally, the use of drones enables Flash Forest to access dangerous post-burn land that has been deemed unsafe for human access, filling a major gap in the reforestation industry. Based in Toronto, Ontario and founded in 2019, Flash Forest has planted hundreds of thousands of trees across Canada to date in some of the most severe wildfire landscapes on Earth. With their Series A funding round wrapping up this fall, Flash Forest is looking towards expansion into America and beyond. They are on a mission to plant 1 billion trees by 2028, and not stop there.
